I mean we still celebrated them, just not the same as when the kids were little and we went all out. We stopped decorating and kind of just did the minimum. Lately, though, I’ve been really enjoying getting into the spirit, decorating, and making things.

Here is a round up of some Valentine’s Day crafts and treats that caught my eye.

Diy Art

Painting is not really in my wheelhouse but I think these Love Letters from We Lived Happily Ever After are just gorgeous and would love to give them a try.

I’ve always wanted to do one of these string art projects. This one is over at Green Wedding Shoes is really cute!

How about some Scrabble tile inspired coasters from blue I style?

Hand Sewing

I just LOVE these mini hoop hearts by Laurenmakes. They are super simple but striking. I think they are so adorable and they are on the top of my make list right now!

And how cute is this little felt love note hoop by Amy Chappell from Ameroonie Designs at the Polka Dot Chair.

Machine Sewing

I also found a couple of adorable pillows to add to my Valentine pillow collection. First up is this adorable Love You Pillow by Amanda at JediCraftGirl guest blogging at Amy Smart’s Diary of A Quilter.

And how about this cute heart pillow by Anna from Noodlehead guest blogging on U-CreateCrafts.

I don’t really sew plushies but these Love Koi by Sew Desu Ne? on Blueprint are making me rethink that!

I also saw this felt heart table runner at Pottery Barn Kids. This would be so simple and cheap to make and they want $39.00 bucks for it?

I LOVE this one by Center Street Quilts. I might need to make one of these!

Sweet Treats

How about some delicious treats? I love a quick and simple yummy treat and this bark from Lauren at Delish looks amazing.

And who doesn’t love a yummy Rice Krispy treat? These from Midwest Living look so good!

I’ll wrap up this post with these Cookies ‘n Cream Strawberry Cheesecake Bars from Creme de la Crumb look amazing! I think I may be able to get Sam into making these with me!

You can find my treat bag tutorial here.

My Valentine pillow covers sew up quick! You can find the patterns here. They are on sale all through February.

And if you’re looking for a little bigger project, try out this Flying Home pattern. It is 30% off all month long.

I’ve also been meaning to make a Valentine version of my Christmas Cards quilt using some reds and pinks and calling it Love Notes. Can you see it? You can find the pattern here.

I hope these ideas have you inspired! I know I am, and I think I have a few ideas of my own!

Quick and Inexpensive Halloween Decorations https://fourrobbins.com/quick-and-inexpensive-halloween-decorations/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=quick-and-inexpensive-halloween-decorations Sat, 19 Oct 2019 23:49:46 +0000 http://box5503.temp.domains/~fourrobb/?p=399 Historically, I haven’t decorated for Halloween. It was just never my thing. Our kids dressed up and went trick or treating and we always passed out candy, but our only decoration was a plug in pumpkin we got from Walmart when the kids were little.

I looked at my porch last week walking in from getting the mail. The concrete needs a scrub but beyond that what I noticed was our faded chair cushions and grill cover and empty flower pots the deer got to. So I decided to do something about it but it had to be cheap and quick!

First, I took white kitchen trash bags and doubled them up. I drew ghost faces.on with sharpies and then put them over the pots, securing them under the pots.and tucking the corners in.

Next, I took 2 black lawn and leaf bags and cut off one edge each and then sewed them together with my sewing machine to make an extra wide bag. I cut two slits on top and sewed in fleece triangles for ears. Finally, I painted on a nose, whiskers and eyes with acrylic craftpaint. You could probably use black duck tape if you don’t want to sew.

To finish it up, I bought some 2.99 clearance fall fabric, 4 yards. I put it right sides together and sewed a 4 yard long tube. Then I divided it into three tubes and sewed the top edge. Next, I turned them right side out and slipped over each cushion. I folded.the bottom like the end of a Christmas gift and pinned in place.on the bottom of the chair. Finally I pinned twine in the 4 spots you normally find ties and used it to tie to the chair.

It was quick, fun, and super cheap and I love how it turned out.

If you do any of these, I’d love to see them! Post them and tag me, @fourrobbins, on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook!

If You Give a Girl Some Modge Podge….. https://fourrobbins.com/if-you-give-a-girl-some-modge-podge/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=if-you-give-a-girl-some-modge-podge Sun, 06 Oct 2019 00:00:16 +0000 http://box5503.temp.domains/~fourrobb/?p=85 …she will start looking through her house to find things she can use it on. And she’ll Google and Pinterest to find all sorts of projects to make. Actually, if a girl finds Modge Podge in her crafts stash that she bought who knows when for who knows what but never did use it……

This leaf bowl was one of the first things I came across. It turned out pretty but I was a little heavy handed on the Modge Podge so there are some white spots. I inflated a balloon and put it in a bowl to keep it from moving around. Then I put Modge Podge on part of the balloon, add a few leaves and Modge Podge over them, layering uncover any open spots to make a bowl shape. Let dry and then repeat until it is nicely coated. Make sure to smooth it out so it doesn’t have white globs of glue.
I used regular as well as hard coat and while it holds its shape, it is not stiff or hard like a bowl. It does make a pretty decoration and could hold candy (if my people would eat it all) or rolls or acorns or whatever.

Next, I did this candle holder coating portions of the holder, adding leaves, coating them, and layering more. Let dry and repeat. Then I added some twine.

I did this jar with glitter and then added a fabric sleeve and ribbon.

To make the Sleeve, I cut a mini charm pack into one and a quarter inch squares, basically cut it into fourths. Then I made 4 strips, each with 15 pieces to cover the with of my jar plus my seam allowance. I added a strip in between and then, right sides together, sewed a backing piece leaving an opening to turn right side out. I closed up the seam sewed the thing into a circle and then slid it on my jar. Then I added a Ribbon. It’s not the most beautiful project in the world, but it looks better than the spaghetti sauce jar that was holding my markers before! Then I had all these little 1.25″ scraps so I covered an empty Trader Joe’s pumpkin coffee can with those.

Next, recovering some coasters. I used some old scrapbooking paper and a few coats of the hard coat Modge Podge.

I still have plenty left. Got any ideas for me?! Leave a comment and let me know!
